SIX AESTHETIX COLLAGEN TREATMENT

DESCRIPTION OF SIX AESTHETIX COLLAGEN TREATMENT:

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), also known as medical skin needling or micro-needling, is a minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as scars on the face and body.

Collagen Induction Therapy performed by our CIT Gen2 mechanical pen, is a process whereby multiple fine needles are employed to vertically pierce the skin, thus creating small channels into deeper layers of the skin. These pinpoint punctures create “micro wounds”, whilst leaving the epidermis intact. This process initiates a wound-repair process which includes fibroblast proliferation and the laying down of collagen fibres.

EFFECTS OF CIT:

  • Enhanced proliferation of collagen and elastin
  • Improved skin texture and appearance of pore size
  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces congestion in the skin
  • Hair growth stimulation
  • Greater comfort levels due to the SIX Aesthetix Collagen Pen Gen 2 design

SKIN HEALING POST COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY (CITA)

The controlled wounding process of the collagen induction treatment triggers a series of actions in the skin in order for the skin to heal itself effectively. When the skin is “wounded”, growth factors are released.

A growth factor is a naturally occurring substance (polypeptide) capable of stimulating cellular growth, proliferation, healing and cellular differentiation. Growth factors are important for regulating a variety of cellular processes and typically act as signalling molecules between cells.
The Growth factors released during CIT result in REGENERATIVE HEALING (Collagen forms from the base upwards) and is healthy collagen as opposed to the growth factors released when the epidermis is damaged by ablative methods or heat which in contrast results in cicatricial (collagen forms from the top down and is “scar collagen”.
Fibroblast cells, which are the cells that induce production of collagen and elastin, migrate to the injured site. Fibroblasts are large flat cells that secrete the proteins that form collagen and elastin fibres, and they give rise to connective tissue. Growth factors are key in fibroblast proliferation and stimulate the production of a new extracellular matrix.
The new matrix cross-links and organises itself over time. New collagen will form, encouraging firmer and more toned skin.
